In 2022 we bought our first home. We renovated every inch ourselves. Spending hundreds of hours painting, sanding and repairing the old Queenslander. We wore the risk, We payed the bills, And We did the work. When it came time to sell, we used an agent. Because that's what the system tells you to do. Our home sold in 6 days for $997 000 Not bad. Not amazing. But market value. It was after we signed the contract I thought, 'I could have done that myself.' We felt robbed paying just over thirty thousand dollars in commission, GST and marketing. The biggest cheque went to the person who took the least risk and did the least work.
